Die eienaars en redaksie van die Highlands Panorama News gemeenskapskoerant vir die Mpumalanga Platorand, wil graag volgens die volgende standaarde die koerant bedryf:

Eerbaarheid: deur in eerlike handelspraktyke te volhard;
Regverdigheid: deur regverdig en onpartydig nuusdekking te verleen sonder voorbehoud in terme van ras, geloof, taal of kultuur;
Verantwoordelikheid: deur nie in eie gewin op te tree nie, maar ter wille van die gemeenskap wat gedien word;
Naastediens: deur die nastreef van onbaatsugtige gemeenskapsdiens.


The Highlands Panorama News is a privately owned local community newspaper and services the Highlands area of Lydenburg, Steelpoort, and Burgersfort.

Legally, the company is registered as a closed corporation. Although its main business is that of a community oriented newspaper, with family values, it may peruse other business interests in for instance the form of assets, property, consultations and so on.

The paper strives towards editorial excellence and focuses mainly on local events. Sensationalism and negative publicity does not form part of the founding objectives, although news remain news, even if sometimes negative. No religious or political leanings are favored.

9 000 copies are distributed, weekly, free. The Highlands Panorama News regards most local advertisements as part of its service to both local readers and local advertisers and therefore advertorial content is justified.

In addition to being a newspaper, the Highlands Panorama News’ primary objective is to provide an efficient and cost effective marketing platform to businesses. “Your advertising is our business”. Our track record speaks for itself, with hundreds of satisfied clients.

Currently the paper is produced in-house and printed at Paarl Coldset in Johannesburg. Current volumes for print runs are at 9 000 copies, for the Thursday (weekly) edition. The paper is wholly independent.


The Highlands Panorama News is a VAT registered CC. Its purpose is to provide a local community newspaper in tabloid format to the communities of Mashishing / Lydenburg, Burgersfort, Steelpoort and Dullstroom. It provides a well read and well distributed platform for companies in which to advertise their products and services. It also provides a one-stop services in terms of graphic design, signage, company book design and production, letterheads, business plans, business cards and website design and hosting.

The following consulting services are also provided:

Mr. Andre Coetzee: Biodiversity Conservation, planning and policy development, conservation legislation, as well as Company manuals and business planning.

Mr. Pine Pienaar: Pastel accounting, SARS returns, SA tax law, bookkeeping and accounting and business financial development.

A team of seven (7) contract workers are employed twice a week to handle newsprint inserts and do the distribution of the paper. A contracted driver couriers the paper from Johannesburg to Lydenburg once a week.
